9. A piece of peace

~ Written by Danielle N. Bilski ~

‘Look within yourself and search for the piece of you that is at peace.
It will comfort you and remind you of who you are,
At times when it seems like you have strayed far
,
From what you thought you knew,
When in your heart you know your truth,

Even though the world may look completely new
,
The one thing that has stayed the same is that you are still you.

Always stay true.’ © 2009

8. The first 1K

~ Written by Danielle N. Bilski ~

On Sunday 31st August, 2009 I wrote the first 1,000 words of Chapter One of My time with you. It was a very exciting experience for me and the words just flowed so naturally. I felt like the last 8 months of ideas and planning prepared me very well for that moment. It is humbling and fulfilling to see two pages of typed text that I have created,  I am so proud of and I know is only just the beginning of the story that I am so lucky to have the opportunity to tell and share with others.

Yesterday I went to the movies with one of my close friends and we shared a profound moment of pure sincerity and emotion as Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr poured their hearts and minds out on the screen for us to experience along with them in ‘The Soloist’ (2009). It was such an incredible story and told with the kind of compassion, vulnerability and life that can sometimes get lost in mainstream cinema narratives that it is undoubtedly a film to be cherished. As the credits rolled, we were both lost for words. Wiping away tears we managed to utter one word; ‘beautiful’. It was, simply beautiful!

The reason I wanted to mention ‘The Soloist’ is because, as writers and artists know that when one creates, some of the best work comes from the deepest place inside yourself that you decide you are willing and brave enough to share with the world. You also learn from other artists and the admiration you have for them and the inspiration you find in their work can have incredible effects on your belief in beauty, art, life, the world and in yourself as a reflection of what means the most to you.

The story of ‘The Soloist’, its incredibly talented and sincere cast, Director Joe Wright, Screenwriter Susannah Grant, The City of Los Angeles  and of course Nathaniel Ayers Junior and his friend;  journalist Steve Lopez who wrote the novel that the screenplay was adapted from have all shown me what I want to aspire to create. A poignant experience that has a clear message, vulnerability and a sense of understanding and respect for others.

I highly recommend ‘The Soloist’ which is now showing in cinemas and consider being a friend to someone who can teach you more about life and yourself than you realise. Everyone has their story. You just have to give them the time, the respect, the safety, the trust and lend them a non-judgmental ear to hear their truth.

Just like us, My time with you has a heart and I am ready to bring the rest of it to life before our very eyes.

Thank you for your continued support. © 2009 Danielle N. Bilski
