Missing

Written by Danielle N. Bilski

Time is running out and I haven’t found myself yet. Have you seen me wandering, day to day-dreaming? I disappear in the glare of first light, but if you come close enough you can still feel the warmth I left behind.

The blinds stay open when it’s dark outside, the minds stay closed when the light has arrived and so, I hide. Where am I? Darkness drains any colours that remain, it’s hard to tell if I’ll ever be seen again.

Someone can be missed and someone can go missing. I know which one I’d rather be. I walk through this infinite space where I can see everyone clearly and for this I know for certain noone else is deliberately looking for me.

Maybe I’ll be the hero of my own story this time, instead of reaching out for your hand to hold, drawing strength from the love I’ve held out in mine. When I do come safely home, the blinds will be shut and the minds inside will be opened.

There am I.
